We had an utmost amazing Christmas! I could not have asked for anything more. The most wonderful part this year was we were all together at home; that made all the difference in the world to me. We started the day out by opening our Christmas Eve book. We chose "The Polar Express" this year. Corben was glued as we read it during breakfast. As soon as breakfast was done we went out and had fun in the snow. We had a snowball fight, Reuben and Corben built a snow fort and Eian just basked in it all.
Reuben previously told me that he had never had a stuffed turkey before so that was his request for Christmas dinner. While the kids finished playing in the snow I went to work. While things were baking, we turned on the x-box and let Corben play "race car game" (some racing game Reuben has). He was in heaven!
After they played a few rounds, Reuben and Corben came into the kitchen and helped finish up the mash potatoes and set the table.
DINNER was YUMMMMY
After dinner and cleanup, Reuben and Corben played chess while I got the cookies and egg nog ready for Santa. We then had fun frosting them and writing our letter to him.
Before bed we retold the nativity story to Corben and Eian using the LDS gospel art kit.
Sleep :)
Christmas morning came with the sound of trains coming from the living room. Santa brought Corben a new Thomas and Friends train named "Salty", who also came with "Captain" the steam boat, and a lighthouse. It was fun to watch Corben enjoy all the lights, sounds and magic this season brings.
After presents we enjoyed our traditional fresh orange rolls for breakfast while watching Living Scriptures "A King is Born!" We then let the boys...meaning Reuben and his new Blu Ray player.... play a while before we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Merrill's.
What a joy it was to spend so much time with my boys and to really be able to cherish every moment. I pray I can continue to have that special feeling in my heart all year long!
