Abbie, Danielle, the boys and I got to the camp site a little after 3p.m. Friday (June 4th) We were able to let the kids check things out and go for a walk around the lake before Reuben showed up and got things rolling. Honestly without Reuben there we would have been lost. He did so much, from building all the fires, getting the tents up (we had three) and mostly letting those two boys be in his shadow. They followed him everywhere! Love ya Reuben!
Friday night we had tin foil dinners full of chicken, beef, and lots of veggies. We also did s'mores that night. The boys LOVED it! Not sure if they loved roasting the marshmallows more or watching them catch on fire! Haha
Saturday, after breakfast (which was scrambled eggs and muffins cooked dutch oven style) Reuben took the boys down to the lake and they did some fishing while we cleaned up.
A few hours later Reuben ended up catching a fish (which was super delicious). Once he was back we went on a hike to The Gratto. A small hike that both the boys did very well on, which leads to a small waterfall tucked away in a rock grove.
We roasted hotdogs that night and again not sure which the boys enjoyed more, but they loved it and that was the point :) For dessert we had Apple Crisp, which I have to say was the best apple crisp I have ever had! Once everything was cleaned up we took the boys down to the lake one last time and let them fish. They were sad to go.
By the morning of the third day there, we were all exhausted, and ready to go home. We all had a great time. Got out in nature and enjoyed each others company.
Looking forward to more trips to come :D
